David Barney Cohen was born on January 19, 1915. He was appointed to the US Naval Academy in 1934 and graduated in 1938.
During his career he served aboard the following ships:
USS Nashville: engineering duty 1938 to 39
USS long: chief engineer, executive officer and navigator 1939 to 42
USS Anthony: chief engineer, executive officer and navigator 1942 to 44
USS Healy: commanding officer 1945 to 46
USS Gunston Hall: commanding officer 1955 to 60
When David was not stationed aboard ships during his career:
1946 to 49 instructed chemistry at the Naval Academy
1949 to 1952 he served as a staff member to the commander of naval forces in the Far East.
1952 to 55 he was at the bureau of Naval weapons serving as head of mine research and development then directed a research program.
1956 to 59 he was staff commander of operational test and evaluation force.
1959 to 60 he was activation officer at the Florida Atlantic reserve fleet unit until he retired in 1960.
After his retirement from the Navy, he instructed at the department of audiovisual education and conducted research in the department of psychology at Florida State University from 1961 to 1964. Then from 1965 to 1977 he was Saint Leo College, 1965 to 1967 instructed statistics and A/V technology as well as acting Director of institutional research. In 1968 to 69 he was the associate professor of psychology them from 1970 until he retired from college and 76 he was the professor of psychology. David passed away on January 18, 1998.
